Baird is a lifelong and third generation resident of Waterford, Connecticut where he graduated from Waterford High School in 2013. He attended Connecticut College from 2013 to 2018 where he majored in Government and obtained his Connecticut Secondary Education Certification. While a full-time student at Connecticut College, Baird worked as a private tutor and music instructor. He has also frequently performed as a popular local folk musician and plays several instruments including the Irish bouzouki, guitar, and Scottish smallpipes. Baird has served our community through his volunteer work at the Niantic Community Church, performances for charity fundraisers, trash clean-up events, and performances in local nursing homes. For hobbies, Baird is an avid outdoorsman and boater, blacksmith, and beekeeper.
Baird currently works as a social studies teacher in the Lebanon Public School District and formerly worked as a Violence Prevention Educator for Safe Futures in New London.
Baird first ran for public office in 2015 and was successfully elected to Waterford's Representative Town Meeting in 2017 to represent the Second District. On the RTM, Baird was appointed to the Public Health, Recreation, and Environment Committee; Finance, Wage, and Personnel Committee; and Committee on Committees. Baird also serves on Waterford's Flood and Erosion Control Board, where he was elected to serve as Treasurer, and he became a Justice of the Peace for the Town of Waterford in 2017. Baird was also appointed by the RTM to serve on Waterford's Long Range Fiscal Planning Committee.
In 2019, Baird was reelected to serve on the RTM and was appointed to the Public Protection and Safety Committee. Baird is now running for State Representative in Waterford and Montville to bring a proactive voice for our region back to the state legislature.
